Jewelry is not only an accessory and a complement to an outfit, it is often the case that a piece of jewelry accompanies us throughout our lives and acquires great sentimental value. Usually, when buying or getting an item, we don't think about how many decisions must be made during its creation. And meanwhile, every object, even the smallest one, travels a long way before it reaches its intended owner.

Jewelry making process

First, each piece of jewelry appears in the thoughts of its designer or designers. Then, based on sketches and ideas, 3D computer models and trial realizations in wax or other materials are created. Only when the design and idea are fully refined, the process of creating the author's jewelry in the chosen bullion, for example: silver, gold or platinum, begins.

The next step is the possible placement of gemstones in the object in question. For this purpose, professional jewelers' tools are used, which have been known in the art of jewelry making for years. Finally, each product undergoes final processing through finishing, polishing and cleaning. The last stage is particularly important, as it can significantly affect the quality and durability of the final product, as well as its visual effect.

Finishing methods

There are many methods of finishing jewelry. Among them, the following stand out: oxidizing (coating the product with a layer of oxide of the metal from which it was made), sandblasting (giving a matte texture to the jewelry), engraving, faceting (grinding to obtain beveled edges), diamond plating (helps to obtain a shiny coating inside the cuts) and coating the product in question with plating of other metals. Of the electroplating finish coatings used, rhodium, ruthenium, gold and silver coatings are very popular. Rhodium plating, which is the coating of gold or silver with a thin layer of rhodium, allows for a high-gloss effect, and better protects the jewelry from blackening. On the other hand, a finishing method that has gained great popularity in recent years is gilding, which is the coating of gold made from silver or other precious metals. In this way, you can get a product that gives the impression of gold jewelry at a lower price. However, it is worth remembering that this coating may wear off depending on how often the jewelry is used and how the owner takes care of it.
